The ancient village of San Gimignano, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the most popular destinations for tourists visiting Tuscany today. Famous in the world for its ancient towers, and for this reason renamed the 'medieval Manhattan', San Gimignano boasts a curious history of guerrilla warfare among its most influential noble families. It seems that the 70 towers present at the time in the village served to flaunt their wealth and power. To date, there are only 14 towers left but they still serve to make the profile of San Gimignano unique and recognizable worldwide. This area is also famous for the numerous wineries that characterize it and for its intense wine production. After visiting the village, treat yourself to a visit to one of the most exclusive wineries in the area accompanied by an excellent tasting of local wines.
